Former Vodafone Fiji 7s player and Police playmaker Livai Ikanikoda said they will take each game as it comes in the Fiji Bitter Marist 7s and not focus too much on their performance last year.
Ikanikoda said their loss to Wardens Gold in last year’s final is still fresh in their minds, but they will not let that distract them in the two day tournament.
Police have sent out a strong warning to other teams after thrashing the West Coast Drifters 40-0 this morning which saw Former Fiji Bati player Eroni Sau and Apisalome Waqatabu stamping their mark.
He said they are capable of lifting their performance as they have former national players like Ulaiyasi Lawavou, Peni Gaunimeke, Manueli Laqai and Apisalome Waqatabu.
Meanwhile, defending champions of the Fiji Bitter Marist 7s Wardens Gold started their title defence strongly beating National Fire Authority 24-5 and Vunavutu Blues 19-12.
Tokatoka WestField Babas thrashed Gumatua 45-7 in their first game.
Westfield Babas has the services of Waisea Nacuqu, Vatemo Ravouvou, Samu Saqiwa and Pio Tuwai.
Tuwai said his ultimate goal is to join the Vodafone Fiji 7s team.
Looking at some other results, Ratu Filise beat Uprising 17-10, Nawaka beat Waimanu 26-7, Marist 1 hammered Lomavata Cowboys 40-7, Police National thrashed West Coast Drifters 40-7, Army Red beat Vuanisaiki 21-12 while Marist Seahawks 1 beat Sparkle Raiders 1 54-0.
