The Fiji Secondary Schools Athletics Association is hoping to have the 2018 Coca Cola Games in Lautoka.
Association General Secretary Vuli Waqa says Churchill Park with its new synthetic track was supposed to host this year’s competition.
Waqa says the lack of some facilities forced them to move the games back to the ANZ Stadium.
Waqa adds that accommodation will not be a problem as Nadi schools and villages in Lautoka can help in accommodating the schools.
He is hoping that everything will be ready by next year.
The Triple N Zone will be held today at the ANZ Stadium.
The other Zones that will be held today including Tavua Vatukoula Ra, Ba, Macuata 1 and 2 and Savusavu Zone.
Meanwhile Digicel Fiji have signed on as major sponsors of the Powerade National Torch Relay for the first time in the history of the Coca Cola Games.
Digicel Fiji Chief Executive Darren McLean says they are excited to be part of the largest sports gathering in the country and this is a milestone achievement.
The Torch Relay started today as they visited Nasinu Secondary School, AOG High School, Basden College, LDS College and Ballantine Memorial School.
The games torch will be visiting 76 schools around the country including 14 new schools and 180 runners taking part in the relay.
Coca Cola Amatil Fiji Marketing Manager Lawrance Tikaram says that this event will start the excitement for the old scholars and those living in the interior about the biggest secondary school athletics meet in the world.
Today the Coke Games torch will be visiting the students of Kavanagasau College, Sigatoka Methodist and Cuvu College.
The Coca Cola Games will be held on the 20th to the 22nd of next month at the ANZ Stadium.
