With a baby on the way, All Black Setareki Tamanivalu knew the time was right to leave New Zealand.
French rugby club Bordeaux has confirmed the signing of Crusaders wing Setareki Tamanivalu on a three year deal and he will leave New Zealand with few regrets when he joins the French club later this season.
While his partner Fijian sevens player Brittany Coates is expecting their first child in early May, Crusaders wing Tamanivalu said the timing was right in terms of commencing a three‑year deal with Bordeaux, reported to be worth around $500,000 a year, which will start at the beginning of the 2018‑19 northern season.
26-year-old Tamanivalu,, made three test appearances in 2016, twice he appeared as a substitute against Wales, and was also used as a replacement against Australia.
Meanwhile Defending champions, the Crusaders will play the Chiefs at 6.35pm Saturday.
The Chiefs will name their team later today.
The Blues will face the Highlanders at 6.35pm Friday while the Reds will take on the Rebels at 8.45pm.
On Saturday, the Sunwolves take on the Brumbies at 4.15pm, while the Waratahs will host the Stormers at 8.45pm.
On Sunday, the Lions play the Jaguares at 1.05am while the Bulls take on the Hurricanes at 3.15am.
