Fiji Football Association President, Rajesh Patel’s four year term comes to an end this year and it is highly likely that he will be appointed for another term unopposed.
The Fiji FA passed an amendment last year which allows only Fiji FA Vice Presidents who have served 3 out of the last 5 years to contest the President’s post.
This means that current Vice Presidents, Yogeshwar Singh, Tarunesh Raddy and Jitendra Kumar can contest for the President’s position.
The three have confirmed to Fijivillage that they are backing Patel for another term.
Meanwhile, Patel has condemned an article posted on social media concerning his resignation.
Patel says there is a group of people who are behind this senseless doings.
Patel says he has no intention of resigning as stated on social media.
In a statement, Patel says let the dogs bark and he knows what to do and whatever is happening behind his back will not take football ahead.
Patel adds he does not have any pressure from his family to pull out as they are also supportive of his achievements.
