Pacific Games soccer to be played at Under 23 level

The soccer competition at this year’s Pacific Games will be played at the Under 23 level.

The decision has made by the Pacific Games Committee Executive Board and has been relayed to the Fiji Football Association.

The winner will also get a chance to play in the Rio Olympics in 2016.

Fiji is expected to get tough competition as the New Zealand Under 23 soccer team will also be playing in this year’s Pacific Games.

The Pacific Games will be held in Papua New Guinea from the 4th to the 18th of July.

New Caledonia won the gold medal in soccer in the 2011 Pacific Games.

Fiji lost to the Solomon Islands in the semifinals.
