Over 5000 people pack Korman Stadium to witness 10th Pacific Mini Games

More than 5000 people packed out the Korman Stadium in Vanuatu and celebrated at the opening ceremony of the 10th Pacific Mini Games last night.

Vanuatu Prime Minister Charlot Salwai urged athletes to respect their opponents and inspire the next generation.

Weightlifting will start at 1pm today.

The Women’s 48kg and Men’s 56kg and 62kg will be held today.

Weightlifting Fiji has 12 athletes.       

It includes Manueli Tulo, Poama Qaqa, Taniela Rainibogi, Tevita Tawai and Patrick Veidreyaki, Seruwaia Malani, Arieta Mudunavoce, Sofia Kinikinilau, Maria Mareta, Maria Liku, Apolonia Vaivai and Eileen Cikamatana. 

In the Rugby 7s competition, the Team Fiji Men’s 7s team will play their first game against Nauru at 8pm Friday.

Fiji will then face Vanuatu at 10.20pm Friday in their second match.

The medal quarterfinals will start at 4pm Saturday, medal semifinals at 7.10pm Saturday while the Gold Medal final will be at 9.55pm Saturday.
