The Olympic Day will be celebrated with a 6 kilometres marathon race that will start from Darmodar City on the 29th of this month.

FASANOC Chairman Loraine Mar says the 206 National Olympic Committee around the world on this day will commemorate the founding of the Olympic movement.

Mar says they will also be using sports to promote physical activity for a healthy lifestyle.

She says this event will be launched next Saturday at Churchill Park in Lautoka where they have made a special event for people living with disabilities.

Save the Children Program Director, Shairana Ali says as an organization working with children’s rights, they are gratified with the commitment to the cause of this charity event.

Ali says that few other events will also be taking place such as the dance‑a‑thorn, medical screening and a blood drive.

Ali hopes that people will come down to take part in this special occasion which will be a perfect event for everybody where their main objective is the wellness of a person.

The Olympic Day Run will be held on the 29th of this month.
