Chiefs utility back Damian McKenzie was named player of the season.

No player from the Super Rugby Champions the Crusaders have been included in the Super Rugby Team of the Year.

The team is based entirely on statistical analysis collected by competition organisers and while six New Zealanders were included, no‑one from the championship winning Crusaders gets a mention.

Chiefs utility back Damian McKenzie was named player of the season for the second straight year after he was top of the charts for carries, metres and defenders beaten.

His team‑mate James Lowe was named on the wing, along with Hurricanes Ngani Laumape, Beauden Barrett and Ardie Savea, while halfback Augustine Pulu was the sole Blues representative.

Meanwhile, ten Crusaders players have been included in the All Blacks team for the Rugby Championship.

The All Blacks will play the Wallabies at 10pm next Saturday.
