Fiji Rugby Union CEO Radrodro Tabualevu has confirmed that they have not held any formal discussions with Vodafone Flying Fijians coach John McKee regarding his bid to take up the Japan coaching position.
Stuff.co reported this morning that McKee is coming to the fore as the favourite to replace Eddie Jones as the main man in Japanese rugby. He may also be the first head coach of their new Super Rugby franchise the Sunwolves. There are also reports that Fiji's assistant coach, Frans Ludeke will join McKee in Japan.
Tabualevu says McKee's contract is not ending after the Rugby World Cup.
He adds that FRU has paid the players for putting their hand up to represent their country.
Fiji is set to finish fourth in the 'pool of death' at the Rugby World Cup after losses to England, Australia and Wales. This means we will have to qualify for the next World Cup. Samoa and Tonga would also have to do the same. This means one of the Pacific island countries will not play in the 2019 World Cup.
