Chiefs captain Charlie Ngatai has returned to the midfield and the Chiefs will introduce two Super Rugby debutants against the Sharks on Sunday morning.
Fiji born flanker Pita Gus Sowakula was also named to start at number eight after an impressive performance against the Stormers last weekend.
With All Blacks Nathan Harris, Brodie Retallick, Damian McKenzie and Anton Lienert‑Brown forced to return home for the All Blacks camp in Auckland, and the team's injury toll still high, the Chiefs are without a total of 20 players of their initially‑contracted 38‑man group for the match at Jonssonn Kings Park.
The Chiefs will take on the Sharks at 1.05am Sunday.
