A new Under 19 boys champion will be crowned this year in the Tuckers Ice Cream National Secondary School Basketball Championship which is currently underway at the Vodafone Arena.
This is after John Wesley College created a major upset this morning beating defending champion, LDS College 26-20 in the first quarterfinal.
John Wesley will now face Yat Sen Secondary in the first semifinal after Yat Sen beat Jai Narayan College 32-29 in another quarterfinal.
In the third Under 19 boys quarterfinal, Laucala Bay Secondary School beat Tilak High School 36-29 while International School Suva lost 36-31 to Natabua High School.
Laucala Bay will now meet Natabua High School in the second semifinal of the U19 boys grade.
In the Under 19 girls semifinals, Adi Cakobau School will take on St Joseph’s Secondary School at 2.10pm while Natabua High School will face Yat Sen Secondary in the second semifinal.
The finals are expected to start at 3:10 this afternoon at the Vodafone Arena.
