Vodafone Fiji 7s play maker Eminoni Nasilasila will not only represent his country at the Dubai 7s tournament next week but he will also carry the hopes of his family to earn a living for them and become a professional rugby player.
Speaking to Fijivillage, Nasilasila said he remembers the day when he was told not to go to school as his mother could not afford to pay for his school fees.
Nasilasila said being given a chance to represent his country is an opportunity for his family to be successful and for him to thank his mum for moulding him to become a better person.
The 2- year-old former Nasikawa Vision College student is the eldest of three siblings and will be one of Ben Ryan’s key players in the next leg of the HSBC World 7s Series.
Nasilasila said he never lost hope when he was dropped from the final team that went to the Gold Coast 7s.
He added that he and his mum cried together as she advised Nasilasila to give his best and think about his family when he was leaving to join camp earlier this week.
The Vodafone Fiji 7s team will take on France in their first pool match at 6.44pm next Friday and will later meet Brazil at 9.44pm.
Their last pool match is against Argentina at 1.52am Saturday.
The cup quarter finals start at 8pm Saturday, the cup semifinals are at 1.55am Sunday while the cup final kicks off at 3.42am.
