The Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s team are not only going after the 2017/2018 World Sevens Series title but also the Rookie of the Year and the DHL Impact Player of the Year Awards.

Playmaker Amenoni Nasilasila and rover Eroni Sau are amongst the top ten players competing for the DHL Impact Player of the Year award while Sau has also been nominated for the Rookie of the season award.

Sau who has earned himself the name “Sledge Hammer” was the DHL Impact Player of the Tournament when Fiji made history to win the Hong Kong 7s four years in a row.

He is currently in third place in the overall Performance Tracker with 305 points behind Australia’s Ben O’Donnell who is in second place with 313 points while Justin Douglas is leading with 324 points.

Sau has a total of 119 tackles, 50 line breaks, 24 offloads and 112 carries.

Meanwhile Amenoni Nasilasila who won the DHL Impact Player Award in Cape Town is known to be the point of difference when he comes off the bench as he had won several crucial games for Fiji.

Nasilasila is currently in fourth place with 288 points.

Fiji now leads the World Sevens Series overall points table with 145 points while South Africa has dropped to second place with 141 points.

New Zealand still in third place with 120 points while Australia is in fourth place with 108 points.

Under Gareth Baber’s guidance, this is also the fourth tournament win this season for Fiji with Hamilton, Vancouver, Hong Kong and now Singapore already in the bag.

Coach Gareth Baber says the important message now is for the players to keep their feet on the ground and continue to work hard.

Meanwhile, the pools for the London 7s have been confirmed.

The Fiji 7s team is in Pool A with New Zealand, Scotland and Argentina.

Australia, Spain, Wales and a 16th team which is yet to be confirmed are in Pool B.

Pool C includes England, Kenya, USA and France.

South Africa, Canada, Samoa and Russia are in Pool D.

The London 7s will be held on the 3rd and 4th of June

The final tournament will be held in Paris on the 10th and 11th  of June.
