The Naitasiri rugby side defeated Nadroga 16-13 in the opening match of the Skipper Cup competition last night.
Naitasiri was leading 13-6 at half time before Nadroga came back to score a converted try in the second half.
Naitasiri’s flyhalf Etonia Ravatukawa was the hero for the Highlanders as he kicked three penalties and converted Inoke Tuisese’s try.
Nadroga’s Ratunaisa Naruma came back to score a try in the last minute while Mitieli Nacagilevu kicked two penalties.
The Naitasiri side was led by their captain Sireli Kaloucava and experienced player Peni Degei.
Meanwhile in today’s matches, Tailevu face Nadi at Ratu Cakobau Park, Namosi play Lautoka at Thompson Park, Vatukoula face Northland at Theodore Park, Suva will play Tavua at Albert Park while Ovalau will host Macuata at Nasau Park.
All games will kick off at 3pm today.
