Overseas Bati coach and former Fiji Captain Wes Naiqama is expecting the local players in the Fiji Residents team to come out firing ahead of the Battle of the Bati clash this Saturday.
Naiqama who has retired from professional rugby league believes the sport has grown in Fiji and local players are also aiming for a spot in the Fiji Bati World Cup squad.
Meanwhile West Tigers centre Kevin Naiqama will also play for the Overseas Bati with Titans forward Ben Nakubuwai, Sitiveni Moceidreke, Roosters forward Eloni Vunakece and Dragons centre Taane Milne.
Ten spots will be available from the Battle of the Bati this Saturday.
This morning Penrith Panthers and former Fiji Bati forward Reagan Campbell‑Gillard has been called into the Kangaroos squad following the withdrawal today of Andrew Fifita.
Fifita informed Kangaroos Coach Mal Meninga today of his desire to represent Tonga at the 2017 Rugby League World Cup.
The Kangaroos will be coming to Fiji next week to face the Fiji Bati and the PNG Kumuls at the ANZ Stadium.
The Vodafone Fiji Bati final squad will be announced after the Battle of the Bati at 3pm this Saturday at the ANZ Stadium.
