The family of the Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s winger Alasio Naduva, believes after years of farming in Koro Island, Naduva is now living his dream.
These were the sentiments of Naduva’s uncle Atunaisa Natubailagi who raised Naduva after completing his secondary school education.
He says that while Naduva was farming on the island, he represented Koro in some rugby tournaments.
Natubailagi says that Naduva was also trying to get into the Republic of Fiji Military Forces.
He says Naduva who is now in the Fiji 7s team for the World Cup and also a RFMF soldier, is very humble and they believe that he was the man for the job as far as a wing position is concerned in the Fiji team.
Natubailagi says that on the day of the announcement of the 12 member team, they did not lose hope as they knew that he will be in the team to San Francisco.
He says that they have ordered T-shirts with Naduva’s name and number 10 written on it, and will be wearing it this weekend.
Natubailagi says that he went with his sister, who is Alasio’s mum, to watch him play in the Hamilton 7s and this was a dream come true for them.
Alasio Nadua hails from Naweni village in Cakaudrove and has maternal links to the village of Vatulele in Koro Island where he was brought up.
Naduva attended Vunivasa District School in Koro, Savusavu Secondary School in Vanua Levu and Lomary Secondary School where he completed his Form 6 education.
