Army winger Alosio Naduva has credited former Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s forward Isake Katonibau for encouraging him to work harder in achieving his dream to be part of the national side.
Naduva’s inclusion in the Fiji 7s team to Sydney and Hamilton has been described by coach Gareth Baber as the finding of a missing gem.
After three years of trying, Naduva says it was worth the wait and it was an emotional moment for his parents who are back in Naweni village in Cakaudrove.
The former Vunisawa District School and Saint Bede's College student is the first to play in the Fiji 7s team from his village and said that it is a proud moment for his family and six siblings.
He says that he is ready to show his abilities to the world especially helping the national side to return into winning ways.
Naduva will be making his debut in the Sydney 7s which starts this Friday.
Meanwhile, the national side left our shores this morning.
Fiji play their first game against Samoa at 8.28pm this Friday, then Russia in their second game at 5.09pm this Saturday before taking on New Zealand at 8.42pm this Saturday.
The quarterfinals will start at 12.28pm this Sunday, the semifinals are at 6.36pm while the final will kick off at 9.48pm.
