New Zealand sevens maestro Augustine Pulu took some gloss off the win in the Sydney leg of the World Series on Sunday with a broken arm, casting doubt over the playmaker’s future in the tournament.
The two‑test All Black halfback suffered the injury during the semifinal victory over Fiji and missed the final against Australia.
New Zealand captain Tim Mikkelson feared Pulu, a focal point of New Zealand's preparations for the Rio Olympics in August, had broken his arm, a diagnosis later confirmed by Coach Gordon Tietjens.
New Zealand is pooled with Kenya, Portugal and Russia for the Las Vegas 7s which will be held from the 5th to the 7th of next month.
