New Zealand Sevens legend Tomasi Cama has retired and is moving into an analysis role.
Stuff.co is reporting that Tomasi Cama won't be sighted on the field in a New Zealand Sevens jersey again, but he won't be far from the sidelines.
Tomasi Cama says constant injuries to his calf muscle was the main reason he retired with a year out from the Rio Olympics.
Cama says he did it the last year and he kept tearing his calf up.
He says he doesn’t think he can run everyday like he used to.
The 35-year-old was a former world sevens player of the year and for a long time he was the central creative force in Tietjens' sevens teams.
Coach Gordan Tietjens says losing a player of his calibre is always going to be tough, but with other players like Gillies Kaka and Beaudein Waaka vying for similar roles in the team, his loss won't be felt as harshly.
Tietjens says Tomasi Cama has been one of the greatest sevens’ players ever.
Meanwhile the All Blacks 7s team is yet to be named.
