Chiefs halfback Augustine Pulu is expected to debut for the All Blacks Sevens team in the Dubai 7's as he has been named in Gordon Tietjens 14 men team.
The team of 12 players for Dubai will be named next Tuesday.
Tietjens is impressed with how quickly Pulu has adapted to sevens having not played the shortened game before.
Other top players in the team are captain, Scott Curry, Sam Dickson, DJ Forbes, Tim Mikkelson, Sherwin Stowers, Beaudein Waaka and Joe Webber.
Dubai has not been a happy hunting ground for the All Blacks Sevens in recent years, but Tietjens says the team was determined to start this critical new season well.
Tietjens says he has set a goal for this team and that is to go and win Dubai.
He says they have prepared well and have planned well.
The All Blacks Sevens are drawn in Pool C and play France and Portugal before finishing the day against USA who ended last season by winning the London Sevens.
Meanwhile, Fiji will meet Canada in their first pool match of the Dubai 7s at 6pm next Friday.
They will then take on Japan at 9pm next Friday before facing Argentina at 3.28am next Saturday.
