Former All Blacks loose forward and All Blacks Sevens player Liam Messam is expected to miss out on the 12 man squad for the Rio Olympics later this year.
Messam, who has played in 43 Tests for the All Blacks, has struggled for both form and playing time in an attempt to force his way into coach Gordon Tietjens plans for the Rio event.
TVNZ is reporting that Auckland rookie Teddy Stanaway is expected to be named in Messam’s place.
Other stars such as Sonny Bill Williams and former Chiefs halfback Augustine Pulu are expected to be included along with regular names such as Tim Mikkelson and Kurt Baker.
Scott Curry is widely tipped to lead the side with question marks over the place of long term captain, DJ Forbes.
