Melbourne Storm’s premiership defence could be on shaky ground after long‑serving captain Cameron Smith was injured in last night’s 20‑4 home win over Parramatta.
The Storm consolidated their spot in the NRL top four with the hard‑fought victory but coach Craig Bellamy has a potentially serious problem to deal with after his team was left reeling with injuries.
In more bad news for the Storm, winger Suliasi Vunivalu also did not return after halftime due to an injured hamstring and forwards Brandon Smith and Nelson‑Asofa‑Solomona were also hurt.
The win places Melbourne at the top of the ladder
In another match last night, the Titans defeated the Sea Eagles 42-34.
Today, the Panthers will meet the Knights at 5pm, the Wests Tigers take on the Dragons at 7.30pm, the Sharks will face the Cowboys at 9.35pm while tomorrow, the Bulldogs will face the Warriors at 4pm and the Rooster will play the Raiders at 6.10pm.
