Blues and All Blacks hooker Keven Mealamu is set to break the record for the most Super Rugby caps of all time when the Blues host the Lions at North Harbour Stadium this weekend.
Mealamu was rested for the Blues opening three matches on tour but is expected to return this week for his 163rd Super Rugby cap.
If Mealamu comes on this weekend he will pass former Wallabies lock Nathan Sharpe who is the current record holder.
Thirty five-year-old Mealamu said that even though he has been playing for 15 years he still has as much passion today for the game as when he started.
The Blues will be desperate to get their first victory behind them this weekend as they have made their worst ever start having lost three out of three.
The Blues will meet the Lions at 6.35pm Saturday.
