Fiji Airways Flying Fijians Coach John McKee has stressed the importance of next month’s Europe Tour as this would be the last assembly before next year’s Rugby World Cup.
McKee says as their last match assembly, the November Tour takes an increased importance in terms of developing their game style and improving their skills and fitness capacities to compete successfully at Test Match level.
He says there will be a lot of focus on the two Tier 1 test matches against Scotland and France, to measure their performance at this level leading towards 2019 adding Uruguay is also an important match for Fiji with Uruguay being one of our pool opponents at the World Cup.
McKee says some new, younger, players will get an opportunity in this tour and it is very important that these players really step up and make the most of their opportunity to put themselves in the selection frame for Japan 2019 through their commitment to the Test Match preparation and their performance in the Test Matches when they are presented with the opportunity and honour of representing Fiji.
Meanwhile, McKee has named Dominiko Waqaniburotu as the captain for the tour.
Akapusi Qera who has been captaining the side for the last few years has not been selected in the squad.
Fiji will play Scotland on 10th November in Scotland, they will then play Uruguay on the 17th of November in England while our last game is against France on the 24th of next month in France.
