Fiji Airways Flying Fijians coach John McKee has confirmed that Serupepeli Vularika will be Ben Volavola’s back up in the flyhalf position in the June Test matches.
Fijivillage questioned McKee on a specialized back up for Volavola with Alivereti Veitokani a possible option.
McKee says that he has been monitoring Veitokani’s progress and made the decision that it would be better for him, at this point in his development, to travel to the 2018 Nations Cup in Uruguay with the Fiji Warriors where he will get valuable game time in the key position of flyhalf in all three matches.
McKee adds that Veitokani will come back into contention for the Flying Fijians when he returns from the Nations Cup.
Meanwhile, the European based players are starting to arrive in the country.
He says that for those players who have completed their season will go into camp on the 29th of this month while players whose teams are in the finals or are coming from Super Rugby will join camp on June 4th.
The Flying Fijians first test match will be against Samoa on June 9th at the ANZ Stadium.
Their other matches will be against Georgia and Tonga on the 16th and 23rd of June at the ANZ Stadium and Churchill Park respectively.
