Maroons captain Cameron Smith has backed fullback Billy Slater to overcome an ankle injury and play in tomorrow’s State of Origin decider.
Slater sent a scare through the Maroons camp on Sunday when he went down with an ankle injury in training.
If he is ruled out, debutant Cameron Munster would likely shift to fullback, allowing Ben Hunt to start at five‑eighth.
The Queensland Maroons take on the NSW Blues at 10pm tomorrow.
Round 19 of the NRL will kick off on Friday when the Panthers meet the Warriors at 8pm.
