Marist Brothers High School and Suva Grammar School have won the Suva Zone 2 Boys and Girls Division respectively.
Marist Brothers High School has a medal tally record of 33 gold, 19 silver and 19 bronze, Suva Grammar School finished in second place with 7 gold, 16 silver and 10 bronze while Gospel High School settled in third place with 3 gold, 3 silver, 7 bronze.
In the girls division, Suva Grammar School recorded 18 gold, 13 silver, 5 bronze, Saint Joseph’s Secondary finished in second place with 12 gold, 7 silver and 9 bronze while Waidina Secondary School got the third place with 7 gold, 8 silver and 6 bronze.
Younis Bese of Gospel High School was awarded the Best Female Athlete while Inia Sili of Suva Grammar School and Aaron Powell of Gospel High School both received the Best Male Athlete award.
20 Suva zone 2 records were broken today.
Suva Grammar School’s Mereseini Ua broke the 14 year old sub-junior girl’s long jump record which was set in 1991.
She set a new record of 4.51 metres to surpass the old record of 4.37 metres.
Akanisi Sokowaqa of Waidina broke the junior girl’s 400 metres record after running in a time of 1 minute .02 seconds in the heats.
The other record was broken by Tarairi Erasito of Saint Joseph’s Secondary in the sub-junior girl’s shotput event.
Meanwhile Gospel High School’s Aaron Powell won the Senior Boys 100 metres final.
Marist’s Apolosi Ratumudu who beat Powell in the Coke games final last year, settled for silver today.
Powell still believes he has to work hard to win the Coca Cola Games Senior Boys 100 metres final.
Meanwhile Younis Bese won the Senior Girls 100 metres final.
