Defending champions of the Fiji Bitter Marist 7s tournament, Wardens Gold continue their fine performance in the tournament.
Wardens Gold is one of the unbeaten teams in the tournament and will be playing Uluinakau Green in the first elimination match.
Laced with 23-year-old lanky forward Sakiyasi Kaikaivalu, Kitione Taliga, and former Fiji 7s reps Niko Verekauta and their captain Sakiusa Nadruku, Wardens Gold is one of the top teams.
The side beat National Fire Authority 24-5 and Vunavutu Blues 19-12.
Looking at some of the teams that have qualified for the elimination so far, Wardens Green meet National Fire Authority, Ratu Filise 1 play Navatuvula, Tabadamu Blue meet UBB Natabua, Hideaway Hurricanes play Uprising while Nabua will take on Firstlight Taveuni.
Other teams that look good to qualify for the elimination round include Natakala, Delasui, Tabadamu 2, Marist 2, Yamacia, Tauraga, Gaunavou and Army Red.
Meanwhile players that have stood out so far in the tournament include Police players Eroni Sau and Apisalome Waqatabu, Firstlanding’s Ilisoni Tavaiqia, Army Green players Isake Katonibau and Peni Naruma, Tokatoka Westfield Babas Waisea Nacuqu, and Tabadamu Blue players Setefano Cakau, Apisai Naqaliva and Alipati Ratini.
Looking at some of the results, Seniboro created the biggest upset beating Yamacia 12-5, Tabadamu Blue thrashed Wailoku Evergreen 38-0, Nabua beat Flying Fish Rugby 22-0 and Army Red hammered Waitui Brothers 34-0.
