Manchester United thrashed Premier League champions Leicester City 4-1 as boss Jose Mourinho dropped captain Wayne Rooney from his starting line‑up.
Chris Smalling, Juan Mata, Marcus Rashford and Paul Pogba scored a goal each for United.
Rooney came on in the 83rd minute.
United's first Premier League win in a month was sealed by half‑time, but a third defeat for Leicester already matches their total for the whole of last season.
In other matches, Liverpool thrashed Hull City 5-1, Chelsea lost to Arsenal 3 nil, Manchester City beat Swansea 3-1, Tottenham beat Middlesbrough 2-1, Stoke and West Brom were locked 1 all while Crystal Palace beat Sunderland 3-2.
