The Fiji Rugby Union said the Pacific Rugby Challenge will be the ideal opportunity for local players to prove themselves for the World Cup selection later this year.
FRU CEO Radrodro Tabualevu said this tournament will provide a level of competitiveness that will allow local players to improve their skills.
The FRU said their aim for this tournament will be to promote Fiji as a reliable sporting destination.
World Rugby Tournament Director Michael Groom said they are proud to bring the Pacific Rugby Challenge to a rich rugby heartland such as Fiji.
He said for the first time they will be using a new pool format in the competition.
Teams taking part in the competition are the Telecom Fiji Warriors, Argentinian PAMPAS, Junior Japan , Tonga A, Canada A and Samoa A.
The Fiji Warriors are in Pool A with Junior Japan and Samoa A while Pool B includes the Argentinian PAMPAS, Tonga A and Canada A.
Round one of the Pacific Rugby Challenge will officially start next week Tuesday where Junior Japan will meet Canada at 1pm, Samoa A will face Tonga A at 3pm while the Argentinian PAMPAS will clash with Fiji at 5pm.
World Rugby has also highlighted that they will providing all matches on live stream at the World Rugby website.
All matches will be held at the ANZ Stadium.
