Liebregts inspired by cousin and national team swimmer Meli Malani to take up swimming

Thomas Liebregts says he was inspired by his cousin and national team swimmer Meli Malani to take up the sport of swimming.

Liebregts is part of the Fiji Swimming team that will be participating at the 2018 Junior Pan Pacific Championship from tomorrow.

He says that he aspires to be like his cousin.

Liebregts who is a student at Yat Sen Secondary School aims to make a career out of swimming.

The 2018 Junior Pan Pacific Swimming Championships starts tomorrow at the Damodar Aquatic Centre.

Fiji will have 36 swimmers while Australia will have 30 swimmers participating in the championship.

250 swimmers from 11 countries including USA, Canada, Singapore, Japan, Australia and New Zealand are taking part in the championship.
