The Highlanders have secured another piece of their post‑Rugby World Cup puzzle by re‑signing All Blacks hooker Liam Coltman until 2022.
Coltman has been one of the Highlanders' best players this year and his retention will be welcomed in the deep south with Ben Smith, Luke Whitelock and Liam Squire leaving the franchise.
The four‑cap All Blacks hooker says re‑signing with the Highlanders and NZ rugby was a simple decision.
Highlanders head coach Aaron Mauger says Coltman never gives less than his best and his consistency in performance is due to his precise preparation and uncompromising approach.
The Highlanders will take on the Blues at 7.35pm this Saturday.
In the matches this week, on Friday, the Chiefs meet the Lions at 7.35pm and the Sunwolves take on the Hurricanes at 10pm.
On Saturday, the Sharks take on the Reds at 1.05am, the Waratahs will play the Rebels at 9.45pm this Saturday while the Stormers will take on the Brumbies at 1.05am Sunday.
