Christian Lealiifano is unlikely to make a quick return into inside centre as a fix for the Brumbies’ sudden backline dilemma now that Wallaby Kyle Godwin is grounded with knee trouble.
Brumbies coach Steve Larkham said rushing Lealiifano’s return to Super Rugby is not part of the plan for the former Wallaby, who has inspired all by beating leukaemia to play two lower‑level games in his comeback.
A hamstring twinge at Brumbies training last Wednesday prevented him taking his place on the bench at Suncorp Stadium last Friday night when the Brumbies were overrun 16‑15 in the final minutes by the Queensland Reds.
The Brumbies will take on the Chiefs at 5.15pm this Saturday.
In other Super Rugby matches, the Highlanders take on the Reds at 7.35pm Friday, the Sunwolves play the Blues at 3.05pm Saturday, the Hurricanes play the Crusaders at 7.35pm Saturday while the Sharks play the Lions at 3.15am Sunday.
