The fourth team to accompany Rewa, Nadi and Suva to this year’s Pacific Soccer Cup in New Zealand will be decided when Lautoka will face Ba next Saturday at Govind Park.
Fiji Football Association CEO, Bob Kumar says the criteria for the selection of the four best teams was set-up earlier this year and it was decided to adopt a points system.
Kumar says the season starts during the IDC and the winner gets 5 points while the runner-up gets 4 with the two semi-finalists to get 2 points each.
The same applies in all major tournaments except the National League where the winner gets 5 points, 2nd placed team gets 4 points while the third and fourth placed teams get 2 points each.
Rewa, Suva and Nadi are the top three teams while Lautoka and Ba are even on 6 points.
Kumar added that to get the fourth team the Fiji FA Board decided that Lautoka and Ba play and the winner qualifies as the fourth best team from Fiji.
The Pacific Cup will be held in November in Auckland.
