Lautoka has successfully defended their IDC title after they defeated Suva 1-0.
The lone goal for Lautoka was netted by Samuela Nabenia in the 6th minute of the second half through a header.
Speaking to Fijivillage after the win Lautoka Coach Kamal Swamy says they were expecting this win as they knew Suva would be tired after the semi final against Labasa.
He says this is a well deserved win for the team.
Meanwhile Lautoka Captain Samuela Drudru says he was lost for words after the win.
Benjamin Totori was also instrumental in the win and had created many chances for Lautoka to score from early on in the game.
By the 35th minute of play Lautoka had taken a total of six shots in trying to score a goal while Suva had only taken two.
Both teams were locked at 0-0 during halftime.
This is Lautoka’s 18th IDC Title in the 80 year history of the Inter District Championship and they have received $22,000 prize money while Suva has received $6,000.
Meanwhile the Golden Boot Award has gone to Rusiate Matarerega of Nadi.
Golden ball award went to Lautoka goalkeeper Beniamino Mateinaqara.
