Laqai, Waqa and Mata have earned their spot - Ryan

“Manueli Laqai, Sitiveni Waqa and Viliame Mata have earned their spot.”

Those were the words of Vodafone Fiji 7s coach Ben Ryan with a focus of lifting his forwards combinations to another level.

Ryan said Laqai has been working on his fitness for a long time while Waqa continues to be built on his strength.

Ryan added that Viliame Mata who was the tallest man on the series last year has got the best hands in the forwards under high ball and line outs.

Mata also made his debut in Wellington last year and was part of the side that won the Oceania 7s tournament last year.

Meanwhile the national side will join camp again this afternoon and will leave for New Zealand tomorrow morning.

The New Zealand 7s will be held next Friday and Saturday.

Fiji is pooled with Australia, Wales and Portugal.
