French club La Rochelle coach Patrice Collazo says they are surprised that the Embassy of France in Fiji has announced Savenaca Rawaca’s link with them.
When contacted by local French media yesterday, Collazo says if an Olympic champion requests a visa to La Rochelle, they are happy to host.
He adds that he was very flattered to such an announcement and conducted his little investigation.
Meanwhile the Fiji Rugby Union also says they are not aware of this deal.
FRU CEO John O’Connor says any local player taking up an overseas offer will have to seek their release at Rugby House.
Yesterday, Rawaca was spotted at the French Embassy when he went to lodge his visa and also met with the French Ambassador to Fiji Michel Djokovic who was seen having a discussion with the sevens star.

The French Embassy also confirmed that Rawaca had told them he has taken a better deal at La Rochelle which may have caused him to turn down his contract with Saracens from England.
Rawaca is expected to link up with Levani Botia and Kini Murimurivalu who play for La Rochelle.
