The Wellington Phoenix was defeated last night by the Newcastle Jets 1-0 in an A-League match.
Fiji’s star soccer player Roy Krishna set up many goals for the Phoenix side, however the team could not score.
Former Wellington Phoenix Coach Ernie Merrick says the Phoenix were a better team and there is no doubt about it.
He says they had more than twice as many shots but they just didn't have their scoring boots on.
Newcastle's lone goal was scored by Jason Hoffman.
Looking at the A-League points table, Sydney FC is in first place with 52 points, Newcastle Jets are in second place with 47 points while Melbourne City FC is in third place with 34 points.
Meanwhile Krishna’s side Wellington Phoenix is at 10th place with 17 points.
Phoenix will now take on Brisbane Roar on the 25th of this month.
