New Zealand Kiwi’s five-eight Te Maire Martin says watching the Tonga loss from the stands has allowed him to take note of improvements New Zealand can make to avoid a similar disaster against Fiji.
Martin says Fiji is quite similar to Tonga with some big forwards with footwork who can offload and some fast outside backs.
Martin has also warned his side they cannot afford to focus all their attention on Fijian maestro Jarryd Hayne.
He adds they have to win the tackles first and minimize the off-loads.
The Vodafone Fiji Bati will take on New Zealand at 7.30pm Saturday.
In other quarterfinals, Australia will play Samoa at 10.30pm tomorrow, Tonga will face Lebanon at 5pm Saturday while England will take on PNG at 6pm Sunday.
The winner of the Fiji and New Zealand match will play the winner of the Australia and Samoa match.
