Former All Blacks Captain Richie McCaw says the solution to stopping top All Blacks taking up big deals overseas is not foolproof but it is effective.
McCaw told the New Zealand Herald that keeping top talents on Kiwi shores has always been an issue but it is just part of life for New Zealand Rugby.
He says the governing body may not be able to match European clubs dollar‑for‑dollar but he believes if players get a good taste of life in the All Blacks, such as team culture, history and success, it makes other factors such as money less important.
McCaw played 148 Tests for the All Blacks, becoming the first international captain to win two World Cups after he led the New Zealand side to titles in 2011 and 2015.
