England coach Eddie Jones has slammed the decision to cut the Sunwolves from Super Rugby.
The former Japan coach said a Japanese team in Super Rugby was vital to the nation's test growth and he has called on the Japan union to find an alternative.
SANZAAR have turfed the Sunwolves out of the competition after the 2020 season, despite the Japanese team's improved performances.
Jones was responding to Wild Knights coach Robbie Deans, who said Japan needed a team which bridged the gap between its domestic competition and test rugby.
Meanwhile, in the Super Rugby competition tomorrow, the Crusaders will take on the Lions at 7.35pm while the Sunwolves will host the Highlanders at 10pm.
On Saturday the Hurricanes will meet the Chiefs at 7.35pm and the Waratahs will face the Sharks at 9.45pm.
On Sunday the Stormers will take on the Bulls at 1.05am while the Jaguares play the Brumbies at 9.40am.
