New Zealand halfback Shaun Johnson believes it will be a failure if they do not progress to the Rugby League World Cup final.
The Kiwis are wary of an unbeaten Fiji team who topped Pool D after beating Italy 38‑10 on Friday.
Johnson says they have got to take a different road now but they are up for it.
Kiwis coach David Kidwell says defence and discipline is needed to limit the chances given to the likes of Fijian five‑eighth Jarryd Hayne, fullback Kevin Naiqama and wing Suliasi Vunivalu.
He says Fiji can score from anywhere, Fiji is in form and they have to make sure they are on their defensive game.
The Vodafone Fiji Bati will play New Zealand at 7.30pm Saturday in the quarterfinal of the Rugby League World Cup.
