Sharks rugby coach Jake White has identified a flaw in the current Super Rugby model ahead of Saturday’s semifinal against the Crusaders.
The Sharks have had to travel to Christchurch for the playoff after finishing one point behind the Crusaders on the competition ladder.
But White has questioned the relevance of the ladder as the Crusaders did not face the top of the table Waratahs or the Bulls during the round robin.
White said everyone is expecting the home teams to advance to next week’s final and if that eventuates, SANZAR should look at why they have playoffs at all.
White said all teams should play each other during the regular season.
The Crusaders will take on the Sharks at 7.35pm tomorrow while the Waratahs will play the Brumbies at 9.40pm.
