It’s a tough decision to make as a coach, but the players understand that it’s for the country.
These were the sentiments of Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s coach Gareth Baber.
Speaking to Fijivillage from Utah, Baber says that after he picked his final team for the Rugby World Cup Sevens, he spoke to the remaining four players individually and they understood his decision.
He adds that the boys reminded each other that this is bigger than just individual selection even if it might hurt them or their families back at home.
The team is expected to leave Utah for San Francisco today.
Fiji will play their first knockout game against the winner between the Japan and Uruguay match at 3.53pm this Saturday.
Barring any upsets, they will either meet Argentina or Canada in the Cup quarterfinals which begins at 10.32am Sunday, they will either meet Australia or New Zealand in the cup semifinals at 7.40am next Monday and will either meet South Africa, England or USA in the final at 12.49pm next Monday.
