Unwanted Chief Stephen Donald is set to join Ulster on a short‑term deal, according to the Irish Independent.
The 34‑year‑old is reportedly preparing to answer an SOS by joining the Northern Irish Pro 14 side and replacing playmaker Christian Leali'ifano, who is returning to Australia at the end of the month.
Donald, who wasn't offered a contract by new Chiefs coach Colin Cooper for this year's Super Rugby competition, is expected to sign until the end of the season.
Donald played for Waikato and the Chiefs in 2015‑16, before returning to play for Counties Manukau, who he made his first‑class debut for in 2002, in last year's Mitre 10 Cup.
Donald's former captain Jono Gibbes is Ulster's head coach.
