Injuries will force Hurricanes to shake things up in the midfield for Friday's showdown with the Crusaders.
Peter Umaga‑Jensen was the bloke drafted into the Hurricanes' midfield last week, to accommodate Ngani Laumape's final All Blacks rest.
Laumape will be back at second five‑eighth, when the Hurricanes meet the Crusaders in Christchurch on Friday, but it's centre is where the vacancy exists now.
Matt Proctor suffered a recurrence of the chest problem that sidelined him for a month earlier this season, with Barrett, Umaga‑Jensen and Jonah Lowe the candidates to replace him.
The Crusaders will take on the Hurricanes at 7.35pm Friday while the Sunwolves meet the Rebels at 9.45pm.
On Saturday, the Jaguares face the Sharks at 7.40am, the Chiefs take on the Waratahs at 7.35pm and the Reds meet the Highlanders at 9.45pm.
On Sunday, the Bulls will take on the Brumbies at 1.05am, while the Stormers will meet the Lions at 3.15am.
