Suva soccer coach, Gurjit Singh

Suva soccer coach, Gurjit Singh wants the standard of soccer refereeing to improve if we are to improve the standard of soccer.

Singh is claiming the match officials made a mistake in awarding a goal to Ba where the Men in Black beat Suva 5-3 in the first leg of the Pillay Garment Champion versus Champion series yesterday.

However our commentary team can confirm that it was a clear goal scored by Ba.

The assistant referee lifted his flag signaling offside against Ba as soon as Avinesh Waran’s shot ended at the back of the Suva goalmouth.

Referee Finau Vulivuli first disallowed the goal based on the assistant referee’s signal but after a few minutes she awarded the goal to Ba after having a long conversation with the assistant referee.

Referees Director, Rajendra Sharma said he stands by his referee’s decision.

He said the referee is entitled to change his or her decision before the next phase of play.

The second leg of the CVC series between Ba and Suva will be played at 3pm this Sunday at Govind Park and you can catch the live commentary on our sister station, Radio Sargam.
