280 athletes from 51 countries will be competing at the IWF Junior World Championship that will be held in Suva next month.
Weightlifting Fiji General Secretary, Ritesh Ratiram says the 2019 IWF Junior World Championships is also a Gold qualifying event for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
Ratiram adds that the Organising Committee is pleased to see that leading countries such as Russia, China, Iran and USA are fully participating in this Championship with the first team, Italy arriving in Fiji this Friday.
He says eight weightlifters will be representing Fiji at the Junior Weightlifting Championships.
This includes Adi Wini Mekula in the 59Kg, Rebecca Johns in the 64Kg, Merewalesi Vusonitokalau in the 81Kg, Helen Seipua in the 87+Kg, Maika Taukeinikoro in the 61Kg Samuela Nasila in the 67Kg, Maloni Sadranu in the 73Kg and Timothy Vakuruivalu in the 96Kg.
IWF Junior Weightlifting Championships will be held in Suva from 1st to the 8th of June at the FMF Gymnasium.
