Two high performance officials from the New Zealand Super Rugby franchise the Hurricanes and a Japanese club were at Ratu Kadavulevu School yesterday to scout for potential rugby players and offer them an opportunity to pursue their rugby in New Zealand.
Speaking to Fijivillage, Hurricanes Recruitment and Development Manager, Darren Larsen says they are focusing on core skills and are excited to watch the Coke Zero Deans final on Saturday.
Larsen says that former Marist Brothers High School student Kaliopasi Uluilakepa is a classic example of a Deans product as he is currently part of the Hurricanes High Performance Unit and has been playing well for the Hurricanes Under 18.
Larsen and Hurricanes High Performance Manager Chris Stirling are expected to watch the Queen Victoria School Under 18 training in Suva today.
A big number of scouts from overseas were watching the semifinals last week and are expected to watch the final this Saturday.
The Under 18 final between RKS and QVS kicks off at 5.30pm and you can catch the live commentary on our sister station Viti FM.
