The Hurricanes have lured James Marshall back to Wellington for the 2019 Super Rugby season.
Marshall will rejoin the team for which he played the last of his 44 matches when they won their first Super Rugby title in 2016.
He then headed to the UK to link up with London Irish.
The 29‑year‑old utility back joins loose forward Reed Prinsep and prop Alex Fidow as re‑signings in the Hurricanes 2019 playing squad, a day after All Blacks Jordie Barrett and Ardie Savea re‑committed to the franchise and New Zealand Rugby until the end of next year.
John Plumtree, who will take over from Chris Boyd as Hurricanes head coach in 2019, was delighted to have someone with Marshall's experience return to the squad.
Meanwhile the Hurricanes will host the Chiefs in their quarterfinal at 7.35pm Friday.
